Simple Pike fishing with dead baitsWednesday January 18 2012

Dead baiting for Pike on rivers has been a favourite way of fishing for me for many years, and although not an expert, I have picked up a few very helpful tips over the years from other anglers. In this article I thought I would share a few of them relating to dead baiting in general, after having a good trip on the Bristol Avon.

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is about to come to an end with the winners expected to arrive in Port St Charles in Barbados in the next few weeks. The 3,000 nautical mile race across the Atlantic, which follows the ‘Columbus Route’ started on the 5th of December from Spain’s San Sebastian de la Gomera in the Canary islands, and is on target to raise £1.4M for charities. The race will take around 50 days and out of the 17 teams that started, 5 have already retired, including Team Tom who had to be rescued mid-Atlantic after their boat capsized!

Mini Adventure No 2. Exploring TreesTuesday January 03 2012

When I was a kid in the eighties, we could be out climbing trees and building dens all day long. It’s a very different story for many kids these days who spend their time playing on computers all day. Well rant over ha ha, but kids these days don’t explore trees as much as they used to, and although there is some risk to climbing trees, under parental supervision it can be great fun!

I had seen people having a go in Water Balls before at holiday parks, and thought they were something to occupy the kids. When Cobbs Cross farm in Somerset, in partnership with Black Rock Outdoors, had an open day, we headed down to see what they had on offer. Although we had big a list of taster sessions available to us there was one thing I hadn't done before, water balls!
