Zip Wires are simple devices set up to give you a short but exciting downhill ride. You get strapped into a harness and clipped in, and then it's just a case of launching yourself off the edge hanging on tight!
In the UK, zip wires can vary greatly in length and height from the ground, and this type of activity can be a great introduction to rope or arial sports. You can have a go at a zip wire in a safe environment at outdoor centres across the UK, some you can simply turn up and pay on the day, others need to be booked in advance, but it's also one of those things that you might get to have a go at alongside other activities. For example canyoning can often contain a zip wire in the route somewhere from where you could be launching off the top of a waterfall in to a cool and often fresh pool at the bottom. So lots of ways to get your dose of adrenaline!
